LUCID is a Linnaeus programme sponsored by The Swedish Research Council Formas for the cycle 2008-2018. Linnaeus Grants are awarded to exceptionally strong environments performing research of the highest global quality and aiming at innovative research. Job assignments

The doctoral College Scholarship Search candidate programme amounts to 240 credits (which is equivalent to four years of study full time). It formally ends with the doctoral candidate publicly defending his/her printed doctoral thesis. The holder of a postgraduate position has as his/her fundamental obligation to successfully fulfil his/her third cycle education ending with a PhD degree. New Zealand Open Development College Scholarships

New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) provide the opportunity for individuals from targeted developing countries to undertake studies at tertiary education institutions in New Zealand. The purpose of the scholarships is for candidates to gain knowledge and skills in specific subject areas that will assist in the development of their home country by contributing to identified human resource development (HRD) training needs. Awardees are required to return to their home country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society or private business organisations.
The NZDS scheme is funded by the New Zealand Government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme. The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), delivers the scheme through the New Zealand Aid Programme. A new scholarship scheme for Pacific applicants will be available by the end of April 2011. Job Description: The Warwick Graduate School is offering 30 to 40 prestigious studentship awards for outstanding students who wish to pursue a course of study at doctoral level.

You are eligible to apply for the Scheme if:
You are applying to study or are currently studying for a three-year full-time PhD or MPhil/PhD (in the case of the Faculties of Arts, Medicine and Social Sciences), at the University of Warwick. Students who are currently studying can only apply in the first year of their registration.

You have obtained or are expected to obtain at least an upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) from a recognised institution of higher education before 31 July 2010.
Competition for the awards is extremely intense. Previously, most awards have gone to applicants with a first class degree or distinction at Masters level (or the equivalent from overseas). Applications are also welcome from people who may not have a first class degree but can demonstrate potential through significant relevant professional experience as well as their academic achievements.

Selection criteria and process
Competition for the awards is very high and awards will only be made to candidates who are able to demonstrate academic excellence and the potential to be an outstanding researcher. There is no age limit for applicants.

Departments are asked to nominate applicants and provide statements of support. Please note that you are not required to submit the statement of support from the academic department with your application – the Graduate School Office will request it from your department if you are nominated.
The nominated applications are normally graded by a sub-committee of the Board of Graduate Studies. Each of the four faculties at Warwick is normally represented on the Selection Committee.

Application deadline: Last year there were two separate rounds of the competition. The first round of the competition opened on 1 November and closed on 30th November. The second round of applications opened on 1 February and closed on 28 February. UNU-ISP takes an innovative, integrated approach to sustainability — one that encompasses global change, development, peace and security. The Institute bridges these cross-cutting issues through research, educational, and collaborative initiatives with the aim of solving current problems and anticipating future challenges.

The UNU Institute for Sustainability and Peace is in discussions with top universities across the globe regarding the initiation of joint graduate degree programmes. UNU-ISP will undertake graduate degree programmes leading to the granting of master’s and doctorate degrees on themes relevant to UNU-ISP’s focus on sustainability and peace.

Scholarships are available for outstanding applicants. A scholarship covers the tuition fees, and provides a monthly allowance of 150,000 yen towards living expenses. 150,000 yen is the average monthly living cost for an international single student in Tokyo, although this will vary, depending on the lifestyle of the student. The monthly allowance will be provided for a maximum of 24 months. Travel costs to and from Japan, visa costs and insurance costs must be covered by the student.

In some cases, applicants who are not selected as scholarship recipients may be granted exemption from the matriculation and tuition fees.

UNU may terminate the scholarship at any time during the scholarship period if the scholarship holder is considered not to be able to successfully complete the programme.
